What causes headaches?
Headache pain results from signals interacting among the brain, blood vessels and surrounding nerves. During a headache, an unknown mechanism activates specific nerves that affect muscles and blood vessels. These nerves send pain signals to the brain.
Life style may trigger headache,
Certain foods, such as processed meats that contain nitrates.
Alcohol
Changes in sleep or lack of sleep.
Poor posture.
Skipped meals.
Stress.
Why acupuncture?
Now, doctors are eager to find a drug-free approach to pain treatment in light of the dangers of opioids ( includes codeine, morphine, OxyContin, Percocet, and Vicodin) Increasing data suggest that acupuncture appears to be safe and effective, referral for a course of acupuncture treatment is suggested for patient with chronic pain. Moreover, the currently available evidence also recommend acupuncture in children and adolescents for the adjunctive treatment of headache.
How acupuncture works?
Is not fully understood. One of them is to stimulate certain biochemical changes that boost the body's natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.
